Why we cry? And why should you?

Crying is inevitable, world is a sad place as it is. Imagine when stuff happens to you, well sad times right? But there’s people in this world, (*Coughs*- Me) that don’t really do that unless in extreme situations. When I’m sad i just bottle it up, and get on with life, but this is not the correct solution. I will in fact explain Why we cry and why should you in the details following.

Crying is a release of emotion, it is designed to be self-soothing and alleviate distress by releasing Oxytocin and endorphins, which are the happy-jolly-wholly chemicals the brain releases. You know that fuzzy warm feeling you get when you feel at the top of the world happy? Oxytocin. And what about Endorphins? Well, endorphins help block the stress and are also released during actual physical pain too, why not have a cheeky bit of that with a quick cry i say. No! You are not weak like they say. Men can cry. It’s the body protecting itself. It’s like a sneeze right? You wouldn’t keep in a sneeze, you’d just sneeze right? Especially alone 🙂

If that doesn’t convince you to shed some tears let me explain the opposite, what happens if you don’t cry?

When in distressing situations. We unbalance. And this shift in balance leads to also physical distress, not crying in these situations means you remain stuck in a fight, flight, freeze situation. Creating both emotional and physical distress. To cry is to break from that and help yourself get back to a whole again.

It all sounds easy as I type it. But the reality of it is that there are several factors which affects our ability to cry, and its not as easy as it sounds to break your mind from those habits.
